| THE WORLD WAR I PERIOD During the First World War Hitler stayed in the trenches of France and served between 1914 and 1918 as an estafette. His behavior was remarked by his superiors as extremely bold and courageous but his commanding officers considered him as a nevrotic guy which was probably the reason why he was never promoted beyond the rank of lance-corporal. However he had plenty of time to paint the horrible scenes he witnessed during those years and to put on a canvass the details of a conflict thar changed his troubled mind for ever. |
